"Aleck's Amazing Talking Dog" was published in Highlights for Children in November 2006.

It is about how Alexander Graham Bell taught his dog to say "mama" and "grandma." I found the account while perusing Mr. Bell's journals from the Library of Congress.

The article won a Letter of Merit from SCBWI's Magazine Merit Awards.

"Thankful After All" was published in Highlights for Children in November 2007.

It is a fictional short story about a girl realizing that she has more to be thankful for than she realized. I submitted the story in Highlights' fiction contest. It didn't win, but they purchased the story anyway.

This story won a Pewter Plate from the editors of Highlights. I was thankful to receive it.
